Indian Head Massage works on the soft tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck, shoulders and upper back. Different massage techniques including gentle strokes, compression movements, deep kneading and work on pressure points, are used to release the stress and tension that has accumulated.
Indian Head Massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility; improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage; aids in the elimination of toxins and waste products from the body; frees muscular tension and relaxes connective tissue. It is particularly good for relieving stress, tension, headaches, migraines, sinusitis, fatigue and insomnia.
The client can remain fully clothed and the treatment is performed in a seated position. It is advised that anyone who has received an Indian Head Massage remains seated for 10 minutes after the treatment to allow their body to adjust.
I am currently training in this technique and will be adding the techniques used in this discipline into my holistic VHT treatments. I will also offer seperate Indian Head Massage treatments to those who want them, and these will take approximately 45 minutes.
